The furlough for the FAA is only a temporary fix reduction for this FY. It does not do anything for the FAA’s next FY budget, as they will still need the same amount of money or do another furlough.
FAA could furlough only the “non-essential” personnel and not cause any airline delays. But I would bet they did not ask for it, as the Obama administration wants the public to feel the pain instead of doing something by not spending more than they get in.

The federal government needs to stop sending millions of dollars to other countries. Our politicians say the foreign aid is only 1 percent of the total budget and they believe that is not bad.
However that so-called 1 percent is dollars and does not take into account the other things sent to foreign countries, which is also dollars.
The federal government needs to work within the dollars they receive just as most taxpayers have to.
