A Fountain Hills Middle School teacher was bitten by a rattlesnake on campus this morning before being taken to Honor Health Scottsdale Shea Medical Center for treatment.
The teacher noticed a baby rattlesnake near the FHMS/Four Peaks cafeteria and was bitten while trying to get it to leave the area. The incident occurred before students were on campus.
Principal Anita Gomez said the animal was so small it was not initially identified as a snake and, after the incident, the critter was driven off into the desert and released.

The teacher will be kept overnight for observation but Gomez is reporting she's doing just fine.
