T-ball solves all

After reading newspapers, watching the news and listening to the overflow of information on every subject you can name, I’ve become fearful for the future of our children. It’s depressing. Although fear is the norm, it shouldn’t rule my life.

This past week has changed my view on life. I was tense with worry and anxieties in my life when I ended up on the bleachers to see my grandson, Devin, play T-ball at the Golden Eagle Park. Wow!

Wow!

Here were children who were out there having fun and trying their best to hit the ball so they could run the bases. Kudos and many thanks to all those coaches who treated these kids as if they were American League heroes. No runs were recorded; no outs were called; just playing together on different teams enjoying the moment! Everyone had a turn; no one was left out.

As I cheered for both teams I realized that all my anxieties were gone! I was in the “zone,” and even though I only knew my grandson, soon all became my “grandchildren” as I cheered for them (yy son was totally embarrassed by my behavior!).

The “happiness high” stayed with me all the way home and beyond. What a precious and joyous time I experienced, and it gave me more reason to have hope in the world instead of the gloom and doom dominating our lives every day.

Fearful?

Go to a T-ball game, or better yet, just go to the park and watch the children play. They are not yet tainted with issues of race, religious or political issues. They just see everyone as equal.

What a miracle this was. God is truly found in the little child. May we all be children again. Oh, and my grandson’s team is called “The Angels.”
