The opinions from Linda Kavanagh’s surrogates leave me torn between feelings of scorn and pity. They live in a dark place full of hateful, fearful and divisive rhetoric. That’s not Ginny Dickey’s Fountain Hills and it certainly isn’t the Fountain Hills I want to raise my family.
They believe in partisanship and alienate the majority of residents who want Fountain Hills’ politics to be about love-of-town, not extremist party loyalty.
They toss out platitudes about Kavanagh’s record and demean Dickey’s values and belittle her history of public service. And apparently she lacks conviction of her actual track record because Kavanagh refuses to publicly debate Ginny Dickey.

They wear a flag on a t-shirt or bumper sticker as proof of their patriotic superiority and believe that our key economic development strategy is to rehash regulations on banners and a neon or A-frame signs.
They call themselves constitutionalists and then criticize other’s rights to freedom of assembly and call them agitators and anarchists.
They believe in liberty but forsake justice for all. They use epithets like “fascist,” “communist” and “socialist” to describe anyone’s alternative view of what Fountain Hills can become.
They talk about rule of law but ignore the documented problems of racial profiling, contempt and discrimination of our LGBT friends and neighbors. And then they write about hypocrisy?
Kavanagh’s surrogates sure have an interesting way to campaign. Ginny’s campaign may be quixotic, but it’s legitimate and it sure beats that ugly and toxic place they live. Ginny Dickey knows that doesn’t represent Fountain Hills.
