Students to pray at school poles

Lifting up prayers for America, Arizona and Fountain Hills, local students will join other teens around the world Wednesday, Sept. 25, as they observe the annual “See You at the Pole” event.
The grass-roots prayer event began in Texas in 1990, bringing students to their school flagpoles to intercede for their leaders, schools and families.
Today it is known as the Global Day of Student Prayer.
Many Fountain Hills Middle and High School students will gather around their respective school flagpoles prior to classes that day.
Local youth pastors are encouraging their teens to gather at the high school flagpole at 7 a.m., while middle school students should gather on their campus around 7:15 a.m.
This year’s event is using 2 Chronicles 7:14 as its theme: “If we pray, seek, turn; then God hears, forgives, heals.”
During the past two decades, millions of young people have lifted their voices, bended knees and joined hands to pray for their schools as part of See You at the Pole – National Day of Student Prayer, asking God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and countries.
Christians believe that one’s moral life is transformed by the working of God, evidence of the change that takes place after receiving the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for their sins.
SYATP is a student-initiated and student-led movement that started in the Ft. Worth suburb of Burleson, Texas, in 1990. It originated with just one youth group, meeting at night at several schools around Burleson during a weekend retreat.
