Reasons why streets are going to pot:

1. Republic Services trucks.

2. Recycling.

3. Streets weren’t made to handle that heavy a truck.

Take my street as an example.

On Tuesday Republic’s monster truck goes down the one side of the street picking up garbage; returns shortly after and picks up the other side’s trash. Two trips.

Thursday is garbage and recycling day. Pick up garbage same as Tuesday’s two trips. For recycling, with same huge truck, goes down one side of the street picking up recyclables. Return shortly and pick up the other side’s recycling.

That’s a total of six trips a week on streets not made for this kind of traffic. Continuing this, we will never catch up.

Possible solutions:

1. Get Republic to get much smaller trucks. Pick up both sides of the streets on the same trip.

2. About recycling – Have Republic figure a way to pick up both sides of the street in addition to the recycling or give up recycling.

3. Fix every street in town to Saguaro standards.
