Who would have thought that the election of Republican Precinct Committeemen, unpaid volunteer positions, for the Golden Eagle precinct would generate out-of-state interest? Apparently this is the case.

This past week many Fountain Hills residents received flyers by mail recommending a group of candidates for these positions. While the return address for Arizona Grassroots Action, the source of the flyers, was listed as Phoenix it did not take much research to determine the real source. Based in Alexandria, Va., Arizona Grassroots Action is a PAC whose two most generous donors in 2014 were from Colorado and California, each giving $100,000.

One has to wonder why an out-of-state PAC with out-of-state donors would be concerned about a small town election of precinct committeemen here in Fountain Hills. Something does not seem right. One also has to wonder about those candidates who would accept this type of endorsement and why they would do this.

My support and endorsement, as well as my vote, will go to those candidates with whom I am familiar and to those I trust. This does not include candidates who rely on out-of-state PACs for support. I shall support candidates who share my conservative values that include opposition to amnesty, limited government, fiscal responsibility, border defense and control and adherence to the principles of the Constitution.

I would encourage you to vote for Richard and Judith Rutkowski, Bill Bovinette and the other candidates included on their list. I know that I will be voting for them.
