Stephen Mark Butcher

It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Mark Butcher announces his passing on Feb 18, 2019 while hiking on Sunrise Trail in Scottsdale.

Steve was born Jan. 23, 1954 in Sacramento, Calif. to Don and Sara Butcher. He grew up in Michigan and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended the University of Utah. After graduation, marriage, and three children, Arizona became home for the next 32 years.

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Virginia; his sons, Matt, Adam and Jared; his grandchildren, Jack, Emery and Logan; his father, Don; his brother, Joe (Theresa); his sister, Christi (Greg) Braspenninx; his aunt, Doris Komar; sister in law, Kathy; brother in law, Jim (Susan) Laughtland; sister in law, Lois (Mac) Meyer; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Sara, and his brother, Mike.

Steve was admired for his faithful dedication to God, his strength of character, and steadfast love and devotion for his family.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills, followed by interment at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, Phoenix.
