The Arizona State Legislature has made changes to the rules governing elections in the state that will have an immediate impact on the calendar for the 2024 primary elections across the state.
In an effort to alleviate what has become something of a logjam in tallying votes after the polls close, the new regulations will spread things out a little to provide more time for election officials.
The bill the legislature passed earlier this month takes the primary election, originally scheduled for Aug. 6, and moves it up a week to Tuesday, July 30. This has a domino effect on all the other dates related to the primary election.
