On Thursday, Aug. 14, Salt River Project (SRP) donated 175 life jackets to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Lake Patrol for distribution across the county’s five lakes.
According to a press release, the life jackets will be used to restock life jacket loaner stations at boat ramps. These stations offer free, short-term use of life jackets to boaters and shoreline swimmers, helping to prevent drownings and promote water safety.

Due to budget cuts this year, and because some life jackets are not returned after use, many loaner stations have been left empty, creating a safety gap for lake visitors.
The donation will help ensure that families can continue to access life jackets at no cost.
