Blessed are those who are generous because they feed the poor (Proverbs 22:9).
Members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church participated in a packing session at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) organization in Tempe.
The organization prepares life-saving meals for children in nearly 70 countries.
Volunteers organized in teams of 7 or 8 prepared MannaPack meals. The groups fill and seal plastic bags of food, label, box, and weigh the shipping cartons.
At the end of the two-hour session, the group had completed packing shipping cartons to feed 58 children for an entire year, which totaled 21,837 individual servings. All cartons from that day will be sent to the Philippines.
FMSC has developed special meals for malnourished children consisting of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and vitamins in each packet.
FMSC has been a Christian non-profit hunger relief organization for 25 years.
The food is distributed through a network of missionary partners with a 99.9 percent success rate of delivery to orphanages, schools, clinics, refugee camps and nutritional programs.
Additional information about the organization can be obtained at www.fmsc.org.
