Sonoran Trail

The Fountain Hills Sonoran Conservancy has just completed maintenance on the Sonoran Trail in the Fountain Hills Preserve.

Areas in need have been widened and most loose rocks eliminated. This is still a challenging 1.7-mile hike for which it is necessary to park in the parking lot at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd., walk through Eagles Nest development to the trail head for the Dixie Mine trail, and then hike part of the Dixie Mine trail to the turn off to the Sonoran Trail.

It takes time to get there but the Preserve is beautiful this time of year, still green, magnificent views, and flowers everywhere. Maps of the Preserve trails are available at kiosks at the beginning of the trails, the Conservancy web site (http://www.scfh.org), as well as in the lobby of the town Community Center.
