Sonoran Conservancy looks to remove invasive weed

‘Stinknet’ fire and environmental concern

The Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills (SCFH) has alerted its volunteers and asking their help to remove an invasive species of weed from the McDowell Mountain Preserve, Fountain Hills Desert Botanical Garden and Lake Overlook Trail to curb the growth of the non-native weed.

Globe chamomile, commonly known as “stinknet” due to its odor has been found in the previously mentioned public preserve areas but is also spreading through local neighborhoods and is found on vacant lots in the downtown area.

An SCFH bulletin calls on residents to help protect the community against the rapid spread of the stinknet.
