It appears that Muslims misinterpret their holy scriptures, as Christians misinterpret their holy scriptures, and that both are capable of terribly wrong misguided behavior.

It is reasonable that we “cut each other some slack” and find ways, global and domestic, to heal our differences.

Perhaps our common God would be pleased.
