Thanks to the Fountain Hills Times Independent for providing good coverage of the recent council meeting regarding the reintroduction of a telecommunications issue, which is really about 5G. For those who attended or watched the entire meeting, you may have noticed a few curious things about the proceedings.
All public entities are governed by Open Meeting Laws that strictly govern how decisions can be discussed and made by members of that elected body. Except for executive sessions, all decisions of the council can only be discussed and made in open sessions.
It appeared to me that the mayor and at least three councilmembers seemingly “set up” an agenda item. It appeared orchestrated to me, concerning the timing of motions made during the agenda item, including votes on a motion to stop discussion (call for the question), and the involvement of the two newest council members. Coincidentally, Mayor Friedel’s campaign finance report shows that he and these members often worked together to get elected, too, doing joint fundraising events.
