Snipes named town parks supervisor

Posted

Although he’s only been on the job a couple of weeks, Kevin Snipes is quickly learning the challenges that go with the role of Parks Supervisor for the Town of Fountain Hills.

Snipes is filling the position vacated by the retirement of Don Clark, and he is bringing some new ideas and turf expertise to the job.

“I’m still taking time to see how things are run,” Snipes said.

He acknowledges a big challenge will be improving conditions at Fountain Park.

“I’m trying to get out in front of the issues,” he said.

“We are looking into injection into the irrigation to improve (water quality).

“There are several options we can look at for a solution.”

Snipes said he has a lot of experience working with treated wastewater for irrigation.

“I want to get the irrigation system back to running efficiently, and get the turf and the trees the water they need.”

Snipes has been in Arizona since 1997. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio and started out in high school and then college working at golf courses – construction and maintenance.

Since coming to Arizona, Snipes has worked in park maintenance with the City of Peoria and was a parks supervisor with the Town of Buckeye.

Most recently Snipes worked with AAA Landscape supervising maintenance contracts for school sports fields, HOAs and condominium associations.

Under his supervision, playing fields for Valley Christian High School were award honors for their condition.

Snipes said he finds working with the Town of Fountain Hills satisfying.

“The people here have been fantastic,” he said.

“They are friendly and eager to help.”

Snipes is married and lives in Phoenix.
