Smart development

I read about Cecil Yates’ three-point plan in the recent edition of The Election Times. I had some questions about what “Smart Development” was. I emailed him, but he called me back directly.

I was concerned about Fountain Hills’ small town charm and how development will enhance, not hurt the brand. Cecil explained it clearly, as he is somewhat of an expert on the topic, just as Ranking Arizona, Az Business and Arizona Real Estate Magazines have listed him accordingly.

He described the economic potential in Fountain Hills as a way to match the small town brand with companies that would fit our town. He described how retail has changed and that Fountain Hills will not only compete, but thrive under the new model.

The demand for products and services is greater than supply. This creates an opportunity for various small businesses, high tech manufacturing and services for jobs, and smaller retailers that supply products to our existing residents.

He went on to say how retail is about creating an experience. While folks are enjoying themselves, purchases will occur. His work on the Greater Phoenix Economic Council has connected him to the emerging industries. All of them are based around the internet and technology. This, he said, is where we can compete.

He was very excited about his work with the State Trust Department. It was he who reached out with them to get the land positioned for young, first-time homeowners. He has several production builders interested in building the type of homes that will attract young families.

After speaking with Cecil, there is no doubt that he knows what he’s talking about and has the experience to make it happen. Cecil has my vote for mayor of Fountain Hills and should have your vote, too!
