How did we get so lucky? Did Scottsdale refuse them? Whose idea was this? A council, recreational committee member or someone from our town? How much did the town charge for the special event permit? Who will pay for the police protection and traffic control?
In anticipation of people getting hurt, the slide people are setting up a tent for emergency medical personnel. Who is paying for the emergency medical personnel? Who will pay for the paramedics and fire department if needed? Did the town get compensation and liability insurance certificates? What is the limit of liability is it high enough? Will the town be named as additional insured? Why would the town risk another lawsuit?

The recreation supervisor said, “It is not the intent to disturb the neighborhood.” Really? The streets will be closed from 12 a.m. and they’ll start setting up the slide at 4 a.m. The street will re-open at 11:59 p.m. but clean-up could continue to 4 a.m. Why don’t they put the slide in front of the recreation supervisor’s house or the Town Council member who stated he’ll be in his Speedo.
Will the town be collecting permit fees and sales tax from the food vendors? How will they police this? Will they be supplying insurance certificates too? I am sure the fire department is thrilled about the limited access to the residential area. Who will pay the personnel to control the residents only access to the closed streets?
How will they secure a 1,000-foot slide? Punch holes in the pavement. This can never be repaired to a “like new” condition. I hope the Town Council does not believe this is going to bring business revenues to our town. Do they think people in wet Speedos go shopping? I think the council should withdraw the permit.
