Skillicorn’s vote on important funding in Fountain Hills

OPINION — Councilperson Skillicorn doesn’t get it.
At the Feb. 17 council meeting, Skillicorn was the lone “no” vote on an important decision. His reasoning was flawed, but more importantly, he clearly doesn’t understand town government.

As described by the FH Times Independent: “Public Works Director Justin Weldy said … ‘it’s hard to get a lot done with a smaller (expenditure) cap. When the town reaches its cap, work stops …  Fountain Hills’ stormwater system includes 69 miles of washes, 407 catch basins and more than 73,000 linear feet of storm drains and culverts. Due to limited staff and weather events during summer and fall 2025, the town sought immediate help from five on-call service contractors. This just gives us the ability to address one year and it gives us five options to do so.’”
