The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors made the right choice by rejecting Allen Skillicorn to fill the vacated McDowell Mountain Justice Precinct Constable position.
When considering him for the post, one would have to assume they had to consider the widely publicized ethics complaints against him, the subsequent sanctions imposed on him by the town council and his failed lawsuit against fellow council members.
Then there’s the issue of his ability to fulfill a commitment. As an Illinois legislator, who had ethics violations against him for casting votes while not present at the legislative session, he resigned before completing his term in office. Now, with little more than half of his four-year commitment to serve as a town council member, he’s looking to bail again. In addition to auditioning to fill the vacancy, he’s filed a Statement of Interest to run for the Constable position in 2026.
Though many would like to see him off the council, moving him on to a county position just pushes his brand of chaos to a new level. His first try to move up has thankfully failed.
In 2026, if he does decide to seek any elected position, we need to remember his track record – ethics violations, costly lawsuits and total disregard for anyone but himself.
