Sister City

Regarding the recent headline that we now have yet another “sister city,” I have to ask. Was it private or public funds used to send nine people (including spouses!), on what seems to the average person, a European vacation?

If private funds, fine, so some fool wasted their money on a political boondoggle. If public funds paid for these “ambassadors’” expenses, I have to ask, where are the town’s priorities?

Saguaro Blvd. remains unpaved and Avenue of the Fountains is, yet again, getting a glacially slow facelift that will draw no one after it’s finished, despite the sunny rhetoric that funded this project in the first place.

Back on subject, if public funds were used to send nine people to party in Europe, this town needs to seriously consider what their hard-earned money is being used for and remember who wasted that money for no defendable gain.

Ask yourselves, does anyone really think that people from this trivial Polish town are going to visit Fountain Hills, or vice versa….really??

This town’s “political elite” should to wake up to the fact that their function is to focus on the needs of this town, not wasting time creating unproductive political connections outside the U.S., regardless of who pays for it.

(Editor’s note: As stated in the original July 30 article, no public funds were used to finance the trip, as each participant paid his or her own expenses.)
