I want to thank Rick Melendez, Honorary Consul from El Salvador, for his kind words about our Fountain Hills Sister Cities program in last week’s Times.
As he noted, our program got started with conversations between Alan Cruikshank and me right after I became mayor of Fountain Hills. Under the long-time leadership of Sharon Morgan, it has grown until we now can boast of four Sister Cities.
My wife Jackie became president of the organization a few months ago and she is looking forward to bringing the state Sister Cities convention to our town next spring.

Anyone interested in becoming actively involved in the local Sister Cities program should call Jackie at (480) 837-3214.
There will be plenty to do to plan for the state convention. Sharon Morgan, who now serves on the state Sister Cities Board of Directors, will be spearheading the convention efforts.
