There is a deadly silence from the local leaders in our religious community. Are there no Fountain Hills religious leaders who are members of the group “No Longer Silent: Clergy for Justice”? This group of Arizona Valley pastors advocates full inclusion of LGBT people.
The recent silly letters, which included a Fountain Hills pastor, seem to support possibly the most ignorant bill proposed by a member of the Arizona Legislature, Senate Bill 1045.
This bill would prohibit local governments from passing ordinances that could subject businesses to lawsuits or criminal penalties if they forbid a transgender person from using their restroom.

This bill was sponsored in 2013 by then Representative Kavanagh and labeled by the nation’s media as the “Arizona’s bathroom bill.” It is now being coveted by our newly elected Arizona state Senator Kavanagh.
When Kavanagh was told in 2013 that Gov. Jan Brewer would not sign any more bills, he stated he would re-introduce SB1045. Will this be the new 2015 jobs bill proposed by Senator Kavanagh? Will Governor Ducey and Mayor Kavanagh be including the salaries for the newly hired bathroom security guards in their 2015 budget?
One of the really big questions left out of SB1045 is how the bathroom security guards would enforce the law. The law’s criteria, of banning people who identify as a different sex than what is written on their birth certificate from using a bathroom, seems simple to Kavanagh.
When is someone going to mention the elephant in the room? SB1045 does not state how you would identify this latest group of citizens selected by Arizona’s politicians for discrimination.
Can you say: “Show me your birth certificate and drop your pants?” Then you’re hired!
This Christmas season please try to remember God created all of mankind in His own image.
