I recently engaged in some public records sleuthing to determine whether Reclaim our Town has paid the July 8, 2024, court-ordered judgment of $1,589 for attorney’s fees in a lawsuit against the town and Sandor Development. Sandor is the developer transforming and saving the Target center.
I have no access to information on whether ROT has paid Sandor their $2,588, as they are a private company. Maybe ROT can let us know in the interest of transparency.
On Feb. 20, I asked for any correspondence between the town and ROT related to the court-ordered $1,589 ROT owes the Town. I asked about two things. First, has the town been paid as of two weeks ago. Second, I asked for records relating to collection of the debt (dunning notices, etc.) as well as any offer by the town to forgive the payment, or any other arrangement or favor toward ROT that had the effect of nullifying or waiving their obligation to remit the money owed.
On Feb. 24, Mike Ciccarone replied and said that ROT had not paid the court-ordered judgment. He also stated they had no records responsive to my other requests about loan forgiveness, etc. I then asked him if he had considered a collection agency. Mike said that was a matter for the town council and town manager.
So, it appears that, according to other open records, ROT paid their attorney Tim LaSota $2,500 with light-speed alacrity in May 2024. Since July 8, 2024, it appears they have flouted a court order.
Alas, par for the course for this outfit.
