Shirley Virginia Cutts went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. She was born in Hutchinson, Kan. on Aug. 2, 1932 to Thomas E. and Margaret L. Turpen. She graduated from Albuquerque High School (1950) and attended Southwestern Theological Seminary.
A high school senior, Shirley was working at a soda fountain when she met the love of her life, Charlie Cutts. It truly was “love at first sight.” They married on April 5, 1950. Shirley devoted her life to raising her children and working alongside Charlie in the ministry of the Gospel.
They moved to Texas where she assisted Charlie through college and seminary. Together they began pastoring churches. In 1968 Shirley and her family moved to Wisconsin.
Shirley believed in encouraging women to have inner and outer beauty. So, she began a career as a Mary Kay beauty consultant and eventually became the first Mary Kay director in the state of Wisconsin.
Shirley’s ministry was to teach women to love and honor God and serve their families. She was a spiritual mother and mentor to hundreds of women worldwide.
In 1974, Shirley and Charlie began serving as missionaries, establishing churches throughout the Americas, Canada, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, India and Europe. They retired to Fountain Hills, Arizona in 2007.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cutts, she is survived by her three sons (spouses), Michael (Cindy), Tom (Deb), and Paul (Mary); two daughters Debra (widow of Robert Shovers) and Lisa (Greg Helstrom).
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Research Foundation or to support Christian ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel - Fountain Hills.
