Posted

A potential disaster was averted Monday afternoon as the Fountain Hills Rural/Metro Fire Department extinguished a fire before it spread into the inside of a residence.

Interim Fire Chief Randy Roberts said crews were called around 1:45 p.m. Monday, June 24, to a home in the 14000 block of Sherwood Drive.

Firefighters encountered a debris fire against the side of a duplex, causing damage to two walls. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from further extension into the residence.

A resident having medical issues was treated on scene and refused transport to a hospital, Roberts said. Damage was estimated at $3000. Cause is undetermined and is being investigated.
