Sheriff’s commander reports to Fountain Hills Town Council

Update on recent activity, financial scams a concern

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office officials are expressing concerns about an increase in the number of Fountain Hills residents who are falling victim to financial scams.

MCSO District 7 Commander Capt. Kevin Thomas outlined the concerns and proposed mitigation efforts before the town council at its June 3 regular session. Thomas said it is an unfortunate situation that with money lost to these scams there is very little chance of recovery. With that in mind, Thomas said MCSO will focus on public awareness and education.

MCSO Financial Crimes Detective Roberts, attended the council meeting with Thomas and said, “The best approach is to get out in front of these scams, by making people aware.”
