Talking points. “They need to be brought out of the shadows.” “We need to secure the border once and for all.” “This bill offers the strictest enforcement ever.”

Supporters of so-called “immigration reform,” including our own Senators McCain and Flake, are once again trying to sell us the idea as the only way to solve a “broken immigration system” and reverse “de facto amnesty.” How gullible do they think we are? Apparently, very gullible.

If illegal immigrants are really hiding in the shadows, why can we easily see them being interviewed on local and national media, at “Si, se puede” rallies for amnesty…? They don’t hide very well.

Furthermore, what exactly is the advantage to working or unemployed, legal Americans of converting ”de facto” amnesty to “legal status” (amnesty), other than to excuse the fact that illegals are violating the law by being here?

The Secure Fence Act of 2006 mandated and authorized construction of 700 miles of border fence. Less than 100 miles has been completed. We don’t need another law to “build the dang fence,” as Senator McCain himself promised when running for re-election in 2010.

The government failed to follow existing law. Why should we believe new law will be different? Border Patrol agents have actually filed a lawsuit against Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security, alleging DHS policy prevents them from doing their job of enforcing immigration law.

The feds blocked Sheriff Joe and his deputies from enforcing immigration law and stopped deporting certain groups of illegal immigrants. Why should we believe that those who just want amnesty will enforce new law any better?

It’s time again to oppose amnesty by any name. Call Congress at 202-224-3121. Speak up to as many senators/representatives as you can to oppose “comprehensive immigration reform.” Visit www.saynotoamnesty.com.
