Local residents are invited to attend a series of ribbon cutting dedications this Saturday, Nov. 5, to officially open and recognize recent park facilities improvements.
The Rotary Community Musical Park was a cooperative effort between the town, Four Peaks Rotary, the Greening Downtown and the Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association.
The park is located in the center of the Fountain Park playground area and features 14 instruments that are designed to play in harmony, by anyone, regardless of age, gender, mobility, visual, auditory or mental ability.

Along with 12,000 square feet of landscaping, 18 new trees were also added, which is not only a park enhancement, but also serves as a sound barrier.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the musical amenity will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by musical demonstrations by two groups of players.
A “Take Action” Project done by Cadette Girl Scout Troop #1059 was to clean and beautify the tunnel at the beginning of the town’s Urban FIT Trial out of Golden Eagle Park.
The troop enlisted help from sister Cadette Troop #2264, artist friends, parents of the girls and personal friends to paint the 123-foot tunnel. A colorful geometric design with animals and flowers was painted along the ceiling and both sides of the tunnel.
The girls earned the Silver Award, the highest award for a Cadette and second highest award for a Girl Scout. The ribbon cutting at the tunnel will be at 10 a.m.
The tennis courts at Four Peaks Park and Golden Eagle Park underwent renovations this summer and were done with a biannual grant from the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority that covered nearly 66 percent of the costs. The 20-year-old courts were renovated with post-tension concrete that is designed to resist cracks and last 20 more years. The ribbon cutting for the tennis courts will be at 10:30 a.m. at Golden Eagle Park.
