Boy Scout Troop 343 recently held a special training meeting conducted by the Fountain Hills Fire Department.
Thanks to Engineer Patrick Lay and Firefighter Devin Schofield from the Fountain Hills Fire Department, the scouts and adult leaders all received CPR training which included how to use an AED.
“Our troop goes on several camping, hiking and backpacking adventures throughout the year,” said Scoutmaster Scott Woods. “Making sure our scouts and leaders are CPR trained is an essential component of scouting. We appreciate the fire department for donating their time to teach us these important skills.”
Troop 343 is part of the Four Peaks District of the Grand Canyon Council in Boy Scouts. The Troop began in 1988 and is chartered by the Church of the Ascension. A strong emphasis is placed on outings, including camping, backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, hiking and more. Troop 343 is a boy-led troop, and is always looking for more boys to join the adventure and advance in scouting.
Boy Scout Troop 343 meets Monday evenings at 7 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 12615 N Fountain Hills Blvd, in Fountain Hills. Boys age 12 and older that have completed the fifth grade and are interested in scouting are invited to attend a meeting (with a parent) to learn more.
