Remember the fabricated “homeless invasion” narrative in Fountain Hills, driven by Allen Skillicorn and his ROT-aligned council members? A formal report identified only two homeless individuals — both of whom were unjustly vilified to stoke public fear for political gain.
Recall the efforts to prevent the town from recognizing diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI)? Despite there being no formal DEI initiative, Skillicorn and ROT allies attempted to sow division and prejudice. This same group also sought to block the development of the Four Peaks Target Center, hindering a chance to revitalize failed commercial areas with upscale housing.
Remember Skillicorn’s continued use of demeaning, hateful language on social media against the LGBTQIA community? When community members spoke out at a Town Council meeting, Gerry Friedel retaliated against them, siding with Skillicorn’s targeted attacks. Friedel’s own social media since has reflected similar patterns.
If this isn’t concerning enough, the same individuals and their political action committee have brought lawsuits against our town. So, when you see those orange signs referencing “potholes” and “roundabouts” along with a mayor’s name, remember who’s behind them — the same ROT group looking to exert influence over town government.
For me, the choice of Ginny Dickey, Peggy McMahon and Clayton Corey is clear. They share my love for Fountain Hills, promote a culture of respect and acceptance for all, and will put the community on a path forward.
