Science festival

Is your child interested in birds of prey or how indigenous people survived in the Sonoran Desert? Bring your family out for a fun, free Jr. Citizen Science Festival this Saturday, March 23. The event is at Lost Dog Trail Head in Scottsdale (just 15 minutes from Fountain Hills), from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Jr. Citizen Science Festival is free to families (suitable for children ages 6 and up accompanied by an adult). Everyone will learn, via 15 hands-on interactive stations, about Sonoran Desert wildlife, plants, geology, archaeology, ethnobotany and so much more. Children will get answers to many of their questions about our beautiful desert and learn, as a Jr. Citizen Scientist, to take an active part in increasing knowledge of our natural world.

This festival is the same event Fountain Hills fourth graders are attending on Thursday, March 21. The fourth grade visit is a collaboration between FHUSD educators, the Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills and the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. So bring your other children and/or grandchildren this Saturday so everyone can share in the discussion and fun.
