I am a third grade teacher at New Roads Elementary in Los Angeles, Calif.

My students have chosen states that they would like to learn more about to complete reports on.

I’m hoping your readers will send a hand-written response back to Masai, who chose the state of Arizona for her report.

I am a third grade teacher at New Roads Elementary in Los Angeles, Calif.

My students have chosen states that they would like to learn more about to complete reports on.

I’m hoping your readers will send a hand-written response back to Masai, who chose the state of Arizona for her report.

My students are hoping to gain insight into the state you live in, so also sending travel brochures, postcards, pictures or anything that is unique to your state (and can be sent) would be wonderful. Many of my students have never written or received a letter in the mail.

Here is the letter from Masai:

Hi, I’m Masai, and I go to New Roads School in Los Angeles, CA. I am 8 years old. I’m in 3rd grade.

My favorite subject is science, because we get to do fun experiments. I’m writing to your state because I’m doing a project in social studies. I chose Arizona because I don’t know much about it and want to learn more.

I would appreciate if you could send me things that would help me learn more about Arizona.

Sincerely, Masai

(Editor’s Note: Heather Ware, volunteer coordinator for the Town of Fountain Hills, personally knows the teacher, Molly Ainsworth, and urges residents to get behind the project. The school’s address is: New Roads Elementary School, 2000 Stoner Ave. LA, Ca. 90025.)
