The Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board will kick off the 2016-17 academic year with a board meeting this evening, open to the public and scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the District Learning Center.
For starters, the Board will consider a pair of extracurricular trips proposed by the Sister Cities Club, one heading just up north to the Grand Canyon in October of this year and the other going just a little bit further away. The second proposed trip takes place following the 2017 graduation and would see students heading to Dierdorf, Germany, as well as Zamosch, Poland.
Along with those trips, the Board will take care of some housekeeping items tonight in the form of several policy reads. Policies range in topics from “parental involvement in education” and “graduation requirements” to “weapons in school” and “extracurricular activity eligibility.” There will be first reads of 10 policies, total.
