After celebrating Falcon pride on the Avenue of the Fountain at Wednesday's homecoming parade, the Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board will host a regular meeting during a special time at 7 p.m. Sept. 24.
While students gather on the high school campus for the annual bonfire at the same time, the local board will meet in the District Learning Center to continue discussion on the 2014-15 school calendar and the proposed safety enhancements for the FHUSD travel bus from the meeting held on Sept. 10.
During the meeting held earlier this month, resident Dwight Johnson proposed a $66,000 gift on behalf of his Fountain Hills YOUTH Foundation and the local athletic boosters.

The offer is to enhance a Falcon travel bus with new seating and a fresh paint job, at no initial cost to the FHUSD budget. It is expected that Wednesday’s discussion will center on potential maintenance and upkeep fees for such upgrades before the board makes a final decision.
A pair of extracurricular trips will also make their way to the agenda, including a discussion item for a CTE business/ entrepreneur class trip to Anaheim in November, and an action item for a proposed middle school Earthquest Trip to Catalina Island in March.
Finally, the board will vote on proposed board and district goals for the current school year, as well as goals established for Superintendent Tom Lawrence.
