Scammers are calling Valley residents claiming to be a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy attempting to serve an outstanding arrest warrant for the citizen due to an unpaid ticket.
The impersonator threatens to arrest the citizen if a “Green Dot Money Pack” is not purchased. No law enforcement agency requires payment of traffic fines to be wired, or require credit card information be provided over the phone to avoid arrest.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office does not conduct any warrant service in this manner.

If you receive a call from a person claiming to be with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and is seeking money for unpaid fines, over the phone, hang up and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.
Use of a similar ruse was reported recently threatening people for failure to report for jury duty.
