Ruby Cloyd Clark, age 94, a 20-year Fountain Hills resident, passed peacefully on May 5, 2015 to be with her Lord Jesus Christ while recovering from a recent surgery.

A recent resident of Horizon Manor, in Scottsdale, Ruby Cloyd was born on Oct. 23, 1920 in Asheville, N.C. She leaves behind her a loving daughter, Mary Brand of Fountain Hills; a son in North Carolina, Gary Clark; her great- granddaughter, Alexandria Lee Wade of Fountain Hills; a great-great grandson, Luca Wade of Fountain Hills; along with many loving friends who appreciated her wit, spunk and kind, generous character.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Gene Clark in 2001, her eldest son Stephen Clark in 1998, a granddaughter, Jeanie Brand in 2012, and her son-in-law Murrel Brand in 2000, Ruby Clark served her Lord and mankind for many years as a professional surgical nurse until age 75 years. She worked at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. for 40 years and retired from there. Many of her patients visited her after they were released from her care. She then went to work for a nursing home in Franklin, Ind., then taught nursing students for a government program in Indiana. She was older than many of her patients, whom she cared for with loving kindness. She helped friends and strangers with food, lodging and support as she believed she was commanded by God to do. She attended Fountain Hills Christian Center, enjoyed many cruises around the world with her daughter Mary, and loved playing cards with her friends.

The viewing will be on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Messinger Funeral Home – Fountain Hills, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., with the service at 11 a.m. Graveside prayers will immediately follow the service at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale. The final gathering and celebration of Ruby’s life will be at her family home in Fountain Hills.
