Roger Lee Essenburg, 83, of Fountain Hills died unexpectedly from heart failure Jan. 15, 2018.

He was born July 10, 1934 in Holland, Mich. to the late Ella and Jack Essenburg. One of Roger’s life highlights was the yearly getaway to Big Buck Estates in the UP of Michigan, with extended family members.

His other interests included barbershop, public singing, piano, a wide range of music appreciation, numismatics, hunting, fishing and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; and his four children, Randy and Lynda Essenburg (Dodge City, Kan.), Mike and Carol Essenburg (Mesa, AZ), Laura and Tim Miles (Tucson, AZ ) and Jeff and Jennifer Essenburg (Cleveland, Tenn.); along with 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Also surviving are sisters, Betty (Bill) Hamlin, Shirley Rhoda and Lynn (Pat) Henagin, all of Holland, Mich., and sister-in-law, Geri Essenburg (Gwinn Mich.) He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Essenburg; and brothers-in-law, Dave Rhoda and Tom Hamlin.

Services will be held Friday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, 13001 N. Fountain Hills Blvd, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.

The family requests in lieu of flowers and plants, donations be given to the Roger Essenburg Memorial. This will be given to the Civic and Cultural Association of Fountain Hills for a designated sculpture at a later date.

Alternatively, a donation to your charity of choice in memory of Roger Essenburg is also appreciated. Condolences may be mailed to the Presbyterian Church and all will be given to the family.
