Roads and dogs

We agree with the writers of two letters in the paper last week. The one about all of the digging in the new surface of Saguaro Boulevard is also a concern of ours. For over 15 months now, North Saguaro has been filled with barricades and heavy equipment.

We all put up with it, assuming the situation would be much improved when done. We’re still waiting.

In the meantime, the new surface, barely four months old, is being dug up and is bumpy from the repairs already (some going clear across a lane). We supported both bonds to improve Saguaro, but we are worse off – a repaired drive that was damaged, curbs that are more chipped than the old ones, incorrect striping on the curve that doesn’t match the signage, constant noise and heavy equipment and the new pavement already ruined.

With the work at the wash, we can look forward to at least another six months of this. There is also an exposed phone line in one area. The oversight from the Town and coordination of work has been sorely lacking.

The second letter last week that addressed the concerns of many people was about irresponsible dog owners. The arrogance and sense of entitlement is appalling. We have given up walking at Fountain Park because of so many dogs off leashes.

Owners with two or three dogs on leashes will take up the whole sidewalk, forcing walkers off the sidewalk. And of course, dog poop is a constant problem. We have a dog park, why don't people use it?

Dogs in grocery stores and the post office are not allowed unless they are service dogs. Going online to get your fake “emotional support” certificate is pathetic. The old adage of something “going to the dogs” is not a compliment.
