Richard E. Petty

Richard E. Petty, age 91, passed peacefully on May 30, 2016 in Mesa, Ariz.

He was born Oct. 20, 1924 in Broken Bow, Neb., and lived in Overton, Neb. until attending the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Theta Xi fraternity.

He worked at Western Electric in Lincoln and Omaha for 36 years and was a lifetime member of the Pioneers.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara after 63 years of marriage.

Surviving are his daughter, Susan P. Long (Stephen) of Fountain Hills and his son, Thomas L. Petty (Lynn) in New Zealand; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
