The Reverend Glenn Alden Atchinson died on June 27, 2013 still living his life of faith.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1933, the youngest child of Milfred and Katherine Atchinson. A graduate of Greenville College (cum laude) and Garrett Theological Seminary, Glenn spent his adult life as a protestant clergyman, serving seven congregations in Michigan and Arizona.
He was the founding pastor of the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, retiring from that position after 25 years in 1998.
Mr. Atchinson is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Sharlynn Rhodes and Myra Leon (Oscar); and son, the Reverend Joseph Atchinson (Vicki); and four step children, Roger Cole (Marlys), Gerald Cole (Susan), James Cole (Lisa) and Christina Cole Atchinson Stewart (Charles); 48 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Glenn donated his body for scientific research. His cremation remains will be interred in the Glenn Atchinson Columbarium at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at the church, 13001 Fountain Hills Blvd., on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m.
Glenn requested that memorial gifts could be given in his name to the Young Families Ministry at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.
