Responding to Councilmember Kalivianakis’ latest opinion

Posted

I honestly don't know what current Councilmember Kalivianakis is talking about in her Oct. 1 letter to the editor of the Fountain Hills Times Independent. Is she actually inferring today is similar to the environment leading up to the Civil War? Surely, she never lived during real dangerous times.

I see this as just one more way Kalivianakis takes veiled potshots at Mayor Friedel, inferring he is somehow to blame for “name the issue.” Recall she presented in her first election as a conservative and was supported by many Fountain Hills Republicans. She strayed far from that, today I would place her more on the side of the more liberal voters.

She does not seem to like the fact that Mayor Friedel is gearing up for reelection, is successful, receiving recognition and is recognized as an excellent mayor. I'm sure you could boil it down to just  plain jealousy and yearning to be mayor. Wait your turn, Brenda. Try being a team player for a change and, if the electorate is inclined, they will choose you at some point. After all, the town charter states our mayor is up for election every two years.

If you are so fired up about the political climate, then announce for office, amass support and see if you can beat Friedel. Today there are extreme dialogues flowing from both sides. I too have called out the inflaming dialogue, but instead of bashing Friedel in letters, try being part of the solution, Brenda, not part of the problem.
