The 2016 Presidential Preference Election in Arizona was held in March. You may have personally experienced or seen reports of the long lines at many polling places in Maricopa County. Regardless of the reasons for the delays in March, the events did result in increased public awareness about the County Recorder.
One of the most important responsibilities of the Recorder is the conduct of elections. Voting is, of course, one of our greatest obligations as citizens, and anything that hinders the process raises concern, even anger, among voters. Early voting for the Aug. 30 primary is underway and voter turnout for the Nov. 8 election is likely to be substantial, given how the outcome of that election will affect our future.
