Reality

The perception of reality of the pastors in Fountain Hills participating in the campaign against progressive Christianity is the product of their idea of absolute inerrancy of whichever Biblical canon, out of many, of their arbitrary preference.

Here are some of my thoughts:

The reality around us humans -- we are simultaneously an integral part of it -- abounds in immense beauty and myriad incredible intricacies.

Scientists keep discovering diverse intricacies more and more, and then describing them in precise technical terms. While all people can readily appreciate beauty, lay people can gain modest understanding of diverse intricacies -- and then experience sheer awe -- only after knowledgeable writers bring out for them, using minimally technical language, rudiments of the intricacies.

Humans (and other animal kingdom members) experiencing periodic pain of varying extents also happens to be a part of reality. Its source is periodic physiological or psychological ailments, financial inadequacies --sometimes downright destitution -- compounding the suffering for a large majority of the world’s inhabitants.

Thoughtless behavior of human beings ranging from some mildest form to unimaginable cruelty by some with power is another source of human suffering of different extents.

Blessedly, goodness in, both, some workings of nature (e.g., intricate start of lactation in mothers immediately after offspring’s births) and actions emanating from the good side of human minds also constitutes reality. The good side prompts us to alleviate the suffering of the afflicted at least a little and simultaneously brings us a sense of fulfillment.

We humans create word symbols for thinking and communicating about things and ideas. For me, the word symbol “God” identifies the entity to hold my profound gratitude to for the very existence of the trinity of Beauty, Intricacies, and Goodness (with the easy to remember acronym “BIG”) as three magnificent aspects of reality.
