Rally response

Some years ago I decided to never write a letter to the editor, as I decided it was nothing more than talking to yourself. However, the “Right Wing Rally” letter was far too personal to go unanswered.

After 36 years in law enforcement I thought I had heard it all; how little I know. I really feel sorry for the writer and what a sad time he has had here in Fountain Hills. He must feel threatened all the time to be surrounded by the enemy, as he sees it. The rally was one of respect and honor to all first responders, something your letter fails to mention and obviously something you don’t feel. How that transforms to politics beats me.

I can say that first responders do seem to get more respect from the right – as you call it – than from others. I would love to have had you work for me and wear the uniform, to maybe walk a beat in the rough part of town, or to be shot at and maybe sued for doing you duty.

Why didn’t you ask to be on the speaking panel, as there were weeks’ notice of this event, and maybe show your support? I get it, not your group. I really feel sorry for you, California is always in the mix for new residents, where you might not feel so threatened.
