Quick fix

Here is a story of a town resident who was growing annoyed by running through a pothole in the street at the driveway entry to their residential complex. Seeking a remedy, they contacted Town of Fountain Hills Public Works Director Justin Weldy, provided him the location and asked whether the repair was worthy of town attention. The pothole was filled in by the time the resident got home from work that day.

Weldy said this type of request is neither unusual, nor bothersome for staff. They are pretty much operating with a skeleton crew in the street department and can’t always know where problems exist, particularly on residential streets.

“Anyone can just let us know the issue and location, and we will get to it as quickly as we can,” Weldy said. This is good to know, particularly if winter rains start to show up as forecasted for this weekend. Add water and asphalt can go to pot (holes) in a hurry.

Even though street maintenance is a priority for the Town Council, operating on a shoestring budget makes needed work a continuing challenge.
