I’m disappointed at the quality of politicians running in the upcoming Town Council election. I have not been able to identify any specific plans or goals the current crop of candidates have to revitalize Fountain Hills and to attract the demographics so urgently needed to revive our town.
Because of this, I’d like to ask a few questions and get their viewpoints in this forum for all to see.
1. Fountain Hills needs to attract businesses to our community. From offering tax waivers to re-zoning ordinances, what are your specific ideas?

1. Fountain Hills needs to attract businesses to our community. From offering tax waivers to re-zoning ordinances, what are your specific ideas?
2. Fountain Hills is a community that has adopted stringent lighting and signage regulations. Nonetheless, it is apparent digital signage is being approved. How specifically will you vote on digital signage?
3. Fountain Hills is having difficulty attracting young families. The idea was proposed to the SPAC to look into having the local School District develop a language immersion program into their curriculum as other highly-desired communities have already successfully done. The suggestion was outright ignored. What are your thoughts?
4. Fountain Hills is bordering Scottsdale, yet Scottsdale’s home values far exceed those in Fountain Hills. What is your opinion on why this is and what can the Town of Fountain Hills do to create a continuity of home values between these two adjacent neighborhoods?
5. Fountain Hills is considering an aquatic center; however, who will be the benefactors of this idea? One can observe it is not Fountain Hills residents taking advantage of our facilities from time to time, but residents from a much different demographic.
Other towns in the Phoenix Valley require residency for participation in their community parks. What are your specific thoughts regarding our parks, splash pad and potential aquatic center in light of the aforementioned?
