Congratulations to our high school girls’ soccer team for bringing home their first State High School Championship!

They played exceedingly well on both offense and defense all season long and decisively defeated Seton Catholic in the state final 2-0.

Hats off to Coach Alison Mabery who led the Falcons to the title in only her second year as head coach. The victory is no accident as many of our girls got their start in our very own Fountain Hills Soccer Club and more than a few have been playing together since they were five or six years old.

A unique aspect of Falcon athletics is that our athletes not only play for their school but for our town as well. A grateful thanks to the community and coaches who guided our girls along the way including: Karl Gaardsmoe, Byron Romans, Les Jarriel, Mark Weisbrod, Mark Lincir, Ed Zerambo, Cindi Dunham, Jean Serrano, Kiersten Dallstream, and Tony Galetti to name a few.

It has been a true community effort and many of the former coaches and trainers could be seen and heard in the stands cheering their Falcons on.

Capping their high school soccer careers with a state title, the Falcons say goodbye to team captains: Alex Bergner, Kahri Smith, Jess Stricker, as well as Sydney Chesser. Their outstanding play and leadership will be missed. You can watch the title game on AIA.365.com.
