OPINION – I'm afraid that many people simply don't understand that the tax dollars coming from the Arizona ballot Proposition 479 is a “use it or lose it” funding issue. The county is paying for almost all of the construction costs and that money cannot be used for anything else.
The real unfortunate part of that proposition is the other projects it funds, leaving only two projects in Fountain Hills that get those tax dollars. I'm not a fan of widening Shea either, but at the risk of hurting the shopping district or hindering sales at those retailers, I’m going to simply put my faith in MCSO to keep speeders on Shea in check.
Keep in mind, Sprouts is coming and we want other large retailers to rent in the vacant shopping center too. This is going to require more vehicle capacity on Shea.
