There was a previous letter that stated the Fountain Park aeration issue could be fixed by simply taking a small portion of property taxes.
Gee that sounds so easy. However, did this individual look at their Maricopa County tax statement? Don’t think so, as there is no Fountain Hills property tax. There are items for Fountain Hills bonds, Fountain Hills Unified School and Sanitary District’s. What Fountain Hills does need is a primary property tax.
I know everyone hates the word “tax.” Those of us who came from the Midwest or East coast know how high the property tax bills were. However, a primary property tax for Fountain Hills would only be used for our town and not Maricopa County, and that is the difference.

This item came up several times over the years and was voted on and defeated. We need to change our mindset and realize that we do need a primary property tax. There is no other way to generate revenue. If we want individuals and businesses to come to Fountain Hills, then we need to have good infrastructure.
